For Cruise 2014/2015, Bottega Veneta presents a collection that appears relaxed, but is still replete with the quality and craftsmanship that the luxury label is known for.
The palette includes black, navy, burnt red and espresso, with touches of sky blue, grey mist, flamingo pink, sage green, palm, pale and sand.
The Bottega Veneta Cruise Collection shirts, trousers and jackets are tailored, but look versatile and casual in appearance. Lightweight and transitional materials are used, including crisp cotton, cotton-linen and viscose. Knits also feature prominently throughout, displaying interesting techniques.
Of particular interest this season is the idea of bleaching and the possibilities that can be achieved from the process. Techniques specially developed for this collection include innovative ways of printing, frosting, overprinting and dipping the fabrics to arrive at the desired effect.
The collection’s accessories include a profusion of new bag designs, with an extravagance of new hues, shapes, and material combinations, such as colorful grainy goatskin and bright snakeskin.
The shoes (oh, Bottega shoes!) are a cross between a sneaker and a brogue, and have a casual feel to match the clothing.
“The essential starting point for Cruise is always the feeling of comfort and ease,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier. “I was interested in experimenting with techniques that are difficult to control and the possibilities they can bring, however subtle or unconcealed the result may be.”
