Our House

I’ll light the fire, you put the flowers in the vase that you bought today.
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you

These pictures are literally of our house, the two editors of this website; this is where we live. We bought the house from a very odd German man who’d been living there in Harlem for 20 years. The antique woodwork, the fireplaces, and all the old-world charm were still intact, but it took the best part of two years to get it looking like it does now. We had so many headaches along the way, with some of what I reckon must be the most slippery construction contractors in New York, if not America and the World, but we got there in the end.

Now we’re just waiting for the Wysteria and Photinia we planted last fall to (fingers crossed!) return to life and bloom, and (fingers crossed) flourish. Then we’ll add a photo of the front…
